Travels took us to snowland…It sticks here! and stacks!
…and makes for scenic driving views!
The ice sculpting on the house windows indicates the temperature outside. When the whole window’s iced in it’s at least 20 below 0. When the ice climbs just half way up, it’s warmer, just –10. And if the window’s clear, it might only be freezing ( :
But the best part of the travel was the beauty at trail’s end, fresh from God’s hand—
our first granddaughter…
Too many miles between us, but the trip’s well worth the reward of holding this wee one, just over 5 pounds, and ohh so soft and wonder-full!

May your winter’s finish be so full of wonder.

===2010 in Review===
We’re having a quiet Christmas time this year. it’s quietly sneaking up on us anyway! Haven’t been out in nature much this week, unless the mall counts as it’s a natural place to go in December! So I offer you our year in very brief review. Good to take a look back before marching into the new one…
January—our now annual honeymoon in the big city…lookin’ out the window of our hotel.
February–The Olympic torch comes to town and our little town has a big celebration!!
March—a miniature microcosm on the mountain
April–Bumbling about up Scout
May—Sailing to our favorite haunts in the ‘Ragged Islands’
June—Summer is come and gardens and flowers
July—The tree that has now become this year’s Christmas tree. Homegrown!
… and Alaska!
August—Lakes and water and sun and more sailing…
…and smiling with cycling friends.
September—out and about
October—the season’s last blooms
November—last color before winter
…and wet walks
and December comes round again with all the glory of the heavens declaring the glory of God.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good will to men on whom His favor rests.”
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

New Mercies
We have returned to home sweet home after many miles humming down the road in rain, shine, snow and even a spit of hail…and I’m reflecting on all the mercies that were ours along the way…
Beauty of sunshine and of pre-dawn snow…
Sandtrucks that appear in the rearview mirror just when the pass seems impassable, and bravely lead the way.
Miles and miles of safe driving and long napping (mine), and free coffee (Thanks McD’s!) for those who must stay alert!
Feasting with family, pork-fest and turkey feast, crepes and cream–celebrating firstborn’s birthday, an early American Thanksgiving and just being together….
Being Grandmom to the one with the up-stretched arms and hug-hungry heart who says “Up” in that winsome little way.
Kindness and wisdom seen in offspring now grown…
Never being too old to fulfill a dream
A daughter-in-heart that radiates acceptance of this new family of hers and continues to cherish my firstborn son unconditionally.
And Baby-joy!
And I’m on tiptoes to see what new mercies tomorrow will bring…
…His mercies are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness, O Lord…(Lam.3:23,24)
