On the go…

I’m posting on the go this week—returning ‘home’ from a trip to celebrate our firstborn’s firstborn’s 6th birthday.

We’re thankful for safe and scenic travels…

We did a little sight-seeing coming and going, stopping at places we would normally just drive on by, including the site of Canada’s first national park, in Banff–

Thermal hot springs have created exotic algae beds in the stream’s current……

(OK, sorry it looks like sludge here. In real life it’s fascinating to watch as is waves in the current)

And of course the Rocky Mountain backdrop is always spectacular…

We got in some cycling time too, as we’re ramping up for a tandem rally…

The prairies have more hills than meets the eye. And more wind!

Thirty-five mile an hour gusty cross-winds were a memorable first!

There’s so much sky here… and sunsets and clouds. What awesome declarations of God’s glory!

The whole earth is His studio.

Forth and Back!

We have been back and forth and forth and back since last posting…First we shot out to Calgary to share Easter celebrations with the young ‘uns…

In the meantime there had been an offer on the house and we were waiting to see what would come of it…and then, it happened. Conditions were met and the house was sold! Time to shoot back to the coast to box up all our worldly goods….

That was yesterday’s trip… from 5 in the morning to nearly midnight… (We won’t miss these ferries for a long time to come!) And now we are here putting 12 years of life in boxes…

Oh, what fun!

I haven’t seen these since I was a kid traipsing to the candy store with my friends on lunch break…

I found it in Banff of all places, along with Necco’s to share with the grandkids…

These great American classics are hard to find in the cold white north!

(But enough of trivia.)

Oh what fun we had on our latest trip to visit these energetic upstarts!

And at the last we were accepted by the newest one too…

Then it was time to go, and oh the early morning tears… (Even five-year-olds are touched with the grief of good-byes…won’t heaven be something!)

We made a day of the drive ‘home’ and stopped to ski and then to soak in hot springs…. now that’s the way to do a trip! When we were young, and when our own kids were young (sorry kids), a trip was a thing to get over with as fast as possible. Only quick pit stops were allowed.

Now that we are getting old, we pause more often to take in our surroundings. What a treasure God has given in the beauty of Creation! Have you ever stopped to wonder what it would be like if all the world were flat?

Though snow is sparse this year, we found trails with man-made snow and had a go of it. We are absolute newbies at Cross-country but eager to learn ( :

And what an incredible backdrop we had!

This is my Father’s world and to my listening ears all nature sings and round me rings the music of the spheres!
