Visual Happiness

Ok, so maybe I should leave the fireworks photography to the professionals…

but it was pretty cool (and a first) to watch fireworks over the water from the deck of the boat!

You get the idea. It was Sea Fair weekend in our little sea-side town. This was the extent of my participation.

I prefer a quiet walk in the woods, seeing what’s up…

The next town event will be the Blackberry Festival. The blackberries have gotten plenty of water, now for some sunshine!

Check out these mysterious and rather ghastly emerging life forms…

Apparently white is in vogue in the woods right now…

But in my garden there are great splashes of color. Nothing so satisfying as growing up a flower from seed not quite sure what it will look like and then, Voila! your very own cut flowers!

Visual happiness!

It’s always a wonder when…

Irises unfold their beauty…

…and buttercups shine as if polished

…and beans find the earth warm enough to venture forth

It’s always a wonder when…

…columbine are found dancing at the edge of the woods

…and thimbleberry bloom in purest white with leaf as soft as tissue

…when bumblebees sup at the comfrey

…and dine on the chives.

I wonder at the the colors that array my small world…

…and the artist’s eye so evident in their design

…and never tire of beholding FLOWERS!

Anticipation

And every springtime we get to practice the anticipation of life coming from death, beauty from drabness, warmth from chill…

On rainy afternoons such as today’s it’s hard to imagine summer sun, but there are hints of spring underway all about the yard…

In the coy beauty of a prim bud…

and the rain-drop ornaments of lupine leaf…

Spring is on the way! Resurrection life is no false hope.

So ‘we rejoice in hope of the glory of God!’ (Rom.5:2)

Here’s hoping you’re seeing hints of springtime’s promise in your days, whether through rain or shine.
