Wondrous Works

Some signs are just too cool to miss…

Another trail, another bridge, another hike with praying friends, but this time, no dog…

And on the home front this harbinger of good things to come!

and my ‘flower corner’ comes to life…

You’ll have to excuse the repeat iris performance, but I just can’t get enough of these luscious blooms!

But that’s enough for this week. It feels at last as though summer has come. Wishing you many happy hours of relaxation and sunshine…

“All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you!” (Ps.145:10)

Prayer-Hikes

Thanks to a visionary and persevering friend with a truck and a passion for the lost, I have been introduced to one of my favorite pastimes: prayer-hikes. Every weekend we load up whoever’s available and strike out for a trail. After the initial chatter of greetings and playing ‘catch-up’ we settle into a rhythm of walking and praying for whatever comes to mind—may be the nation, may be the church, may be our neighbors or ones we’ve just met… But always we pray, sometimes we sing, and always it is good to be together united in prayer and faith, celebrating this wide world of nature around us, rain or shine!
I commend the practice to you and whomever you are arm-linked with there. It is good.
Here are pictures from a recent hike, this one was new for us and is part of the famed Sunshine Coast Trail system…

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus, throughout all generations…I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called…eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph.3:20-4:3)

The Little Things…

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that lift our spirits… And that dogged determination to do what we’ve committed to on days we’d rather not, that helps too. So, did I say I was going to make a point to hike up Scout once a week? That once-a-week stuff comes around awful quickly. Anyway, there’s more than one way to get up Scout, so for variety I came up from another angle following the Sunshine Coast Trail…

…and here’s what I found…

…wild currant bushes creeping into bloom.

Catching some sun on a mossy (wet seat, oops!) clearing I had time not only to vent some frustrations to the Maker of Creation but to stop and look at His gifts to me this day…unseen gifts of continuing grace and faithfulness… and little tiny beautiful things with texture and color and life…

(Doesn’t this drop look like a little earring? My apologies for the lack of focus…)

The Moss is all excited about spring—putting out bouquets underfoot…

Surely God cares about the little things that seem so big to me for He makes even the tiny things beautiful. And here it is, beauty springing up underfoot when I take time to look.

‘He has made everything beautiful in its time.’ Eccl.3:11
